This   is   the   mini-mall   where   our   studio   lives.   We   have   been   here   for   25+   years.   We   love our   landlord,   David   Hall   (Hall   &   Moskow),   and   we   are   blessed   with   great   neighbors.   But to   call   The   Tannery   Marketplace   a   'mini-mall'   is   really   a   great   injustice.   It   is   (mostly)   an old   tannery   that   has   been   wonderfully   and   thoughtfully   converted   into   a   complex   of   five buildings, each with its own flavor and character. Visit the shops and services on line or, even better, in person!
When   we   shop   locally   because   we   need   it   fast   and   need   to   know   its   probably   going   to   be   in   stock,   we   drive   to Beverly.   Art   Supplies   Wholesale   is   packed   with   just   about   anything   you   might   need   for   your   art   project.   They are   a   bit   hard   to   find.   When   you   find   the   little   mini-mall,   you   have   to   drive   down   and   in   back   of   the   building. They have a map in their 'About Us' section. Just click on their logo to go to their site.
Another   alternative   for   local,   brick   and   mortar   shopping   for   art   supplies   is Artist   &   Craftsman   Supply.   They have   a   relatively   new   store   that   opened   in   Saugus   about   three   years   ago.   They   are   a   national   chain   and youcan shop on line as well as at the stores. The   Saugus   store   is   large,   comfortable   to   shop   with   a   friendly   and   helpful   staff.   These   stores   are employee owned. Ju st click on the logo to go to their web site.

Local Framing:

The   Connor   Summers   Gallery   is   located   in   an   historic   federal   era   building   on   Market   Street,   just   a   few   blocks   from   downtown Newburyport.   The   gallery   seems   to   flow   out   of   the   tree   shaded   wall   which   surrounds   an   old   churchyard   on   a   quiet   residential street where there is plenty of parking. On a personal note, Cathy has been a friend since before she started her business in the Tannery.
We   are   one   of   the   largest   and   most   well   equipped   frame   shops   in   the   area   with   an   experienced   staff that can handle the most demanding frame projects with meticulous care and attention to detail.

On Line Framing:

A good source for on-line framing is Graphic Dimensions, known online as pictureframes.com.

They carry many frame styles that you can order either pre-made or 'precut', that you assemble

yourself. You can also order corner samples of your favorite styles to try on your pictures.

For over 40 years, Graphik Dimensions Ltd. has been serving the continuum of art and framing needs across the planet.

Sites of Former and Present Students:

Scroll to the bottom of this page to find art sites of some of our former and current students!

The order of all of these links is random. We are not recommending one place over another. We urge you to shop around for your supplies and look for deals. There are places to find coupons & discounts. Especially ... try to get your best deal (free is good) on shipping. Be extremely careful of ‘truck freight’ for larger items. We were buying something for $60.00 and the frieght was over $150.00!!!
The Newburyport Art Association was founded in 1948. The NAA is dedicated to promoting and exhibiting our members' work, to providing art education for students of all ages and skills, and to keeping the visual arts accessible for students in our local schools and for special needs adults. We are now collaberating with NAA to provide expanded art education to the community.
